25 May and 15 June 2022

“Compartiendo experiencias” (sharing experiences) is the name of the initiative of two Chilean nurses, Gerthy Rios and Katherine López, to bring together the human talent of Sterilization Central, during the most critical phase of the pandemic. Their objective is to discuss good reprocessing practices in a group called “AFTER ESTERILIZACIÓN”, which includes leading figures in the field of Sterilization Sciences, such as Patricia Gutiérrez, and other prominent leaders from South and Central American countries.

In an open and impartial format, each week, a leading speaker from a hospital institution is invited, as well as experts from the industry, creating very entertaining and interesting debates.

The success is overwhelming; in their social networks, “AFTER ESTERILIZACIÓN” has more than 1,500 followers.

CONVERSANDO SOBRE EL REPROCESAMIENTO DE DISPOSITIVOS MÉDICOS

For MATACHANA, the exchange with the attendees has been fruitful. At our first meeting, on 25 May, we discussed the “Characteristics of a Safe Sterile Product” with Giovanna Ruiz as speaker. In that session, it was highlighted that the safety of a reusable sterile medical device is associated with the compliance of the different stages that constitute the reprocessing circuit.

Similarly, on 15 June, Alejandro Ramirez, Global Product Manager, spoke about Low Temperature Steam technology with 2% Formaldehyde, showing that Low Temperature sterilization in a RUMED, in addition to covering the aseptic needs of the thermosensitive material of a health center, must guarantee maximum safety for patients and users.

From MATACHANA, we would like to congratulate and thank “AFTER ESTERILIZACIÓN” for encouraging training within the scope of Sterilization Sciences and bridging borders between our countries.
