INDICATORS FOR STEAM
Indicators for routine monitoring of saturated steam sterilization processes comply with ISO 11140-1,4 and ISO 11138-1,3, 8 and fall into three main subgroups:
1. Biological Indicators
for the verification of spore survival.
Unambiguous verification of the micro-organisms death after the process.
2. Chemical Indicators
that go inside the packaging (packages, containers, etc.).
Verification of the sterilization conditions of the occurrence inside a package.
3. Chemical Indicators with process challenge devices.
Verification of sterilization conditions in challenging situations for either porous or textile loads, solid or cannulated loads.
