On 4 and 5 April 2024, more than 50 professionals from the sterilization service of the Hospital Universitario Ntra. Sra. de la Candelaria in Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, attended a theoretical and practical training course on the reprocessing of medical devices.

During the different sessions, split into several shifts to reach the large group of workers, aspects related to the Medical Devices Regulation and its implications at the level of the Reprocessing Units, the treatment circle of medical devices and especially, the transcendental role that the Sterilization Central plays in the prevention of hospital infections were dealt with.

MATACHANA was awarded, during 2023, the public tender for the renewal of the automatic washing and disinfection equipment, as well as some of the steam sterilizers. Therefore, during the practical day, aspects related to the handling of the equipment, the correct selection of cycles as well as good practices for the elaboration of loads and prevention of adverse incidents were reviewed.

From MATACHANA, we would like to thank all the staff for their kindness and especially the involvement of their supervisor, alma mater for the coordination and execution of this course.

The hospital decided to internally accredit the training sessions of technical-scientific interest for the attending professionals, so it was reflected in the course certificates.
