In November 2025, our clinical specialist Giovanna Ruiz Beltrán took part in an enriching day of shared experiences and real-life practice sessions at the RUMED of the Spanish Association in Montevideo, Uruguay.
This modern reprocessing unit is fitted with MAT LD500 automatic washing equipment, S1008 steam sterilizers and 2 low temperature technologies: Vaporised Hydrogen Peroxide with Plasma phase (130HPO®) and Low Temperature Steam with 2% Formaldehyde (130LF®).
This service provides sterile devices to 8 operating rooms, one hemodynamics unit and one clean room, making it a national reference point thanks to its infrastructure and technology, human resources management and the use of patient safety-focussed protocols and equipment.
With this in mind, the hospital has prioritized an integral solution for the sterilisation of thermosensitive devices by installing both a Vaporised Hydrogen Peroxide sterilizer and a Low Temperature Steam sterilizer with 2% Formaldehyde, benefiting from the combination of both technologies and allowing cost-effective materials management.
For MIEC, it was a pleasure to spend time with them during these working days. We would like to thank to team for their curiosity, commitment and openness, qualities that strengthen best practices and confirm that continuous training and appropriate technology are the at the heart of safe reprocessing of reusable medical devices.
We would also like to thank MEDIQ, our distributor in Uruguay, for their hard work and for promoting opportunities for facility updates. Thank you for the invitation to your online academic session, where we discussed LTSF at 2%.
We will continue to work hand in hand with RUMEDs in the region to strengthen capacity, promote safe techniques and contribute to more reliable patient care environments.
