On 20 and 22 June, the company DIMEX MEDICA, MATACHANA’s distributor in Honduras, organised the II Training Congress on “The sterilization central as a strategic axis of health care”, in the cities of Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula. These events were attended by supervisors, managers and biomedical engineers, all of them related to the reprocessing industry of reusable medical devices.

Ms. Giovanna Ruiz Beltran, Clinical Specialist & MIEC LATAM of MATACHANA, acted as speaker, with presentations on the importance of automated washing as well as on Low Temperature sterilization technologies, namely VH2O2 and 2% LTSF.

At the closing of these meetings, there were many discussions among the attendees, concluding that automated cleaning and disinfection processes mitigate the risk of incidents and adverse events associated with these stages, reconfirming their importance within the circle of treatment of medical devices. Likewise, it was shown how the complementarity between Hydrogen Peroxide and Low Temperature Steam and 2% Formaldehyde technologies represent the total solution for the sterilization of thermosensitive materials, in an effective and safe way for workers, the environment and reusable medical devices.

Many thanks to all attendees and congratulations to DIMEX MEDICA, for providing academic spaces to optimise good practices in the hospital sterilization environment.
