On 13 May 2024, Panama City was the setting for the seminar: ‘Monitoring in Medical Device Reprocessing Centres: what I need to know’. This event was organised by MATACHANA, THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NURSES OF PANAMA (ANEP) and the company HOSPIMED, and was attended by renowned experts in the field.
One of the main speakers was Dr. Nelson Carreras, Global Product Manager of the Consumables line at MATACHANA, who shared valuable information on sterile barrier systems and the latest innovations on indicators for cleaning/disinfection and for the different existing sterilization methods. In addition, Giovanna Ruiz, Clinical Specialist LATAM at MATACHANA, gave an online lecture on the challenges of the reprocessing environment for reusable medical devices in the 21st century. Representing HOSPIMED, Vitalino Mosquera, spoke about design standards in reprocessing plants, highlighting the importance of maintaining high levels of quality and safety.
He also highlighted the commitment to training of the MATACHANA INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION CENTER (MIEC), promoting a culture of excellence and constant updating.
This seminar highlights the contribution of the organisations involved in the education and advancement of sterilization science in the reprocessing of medical devices, vital for safety and efficiency in the hospital environment.
