MATACHANA second collaboration with KADIANDÚ humanitarian mission in Senegal (2026)

The NGO KADIANDÚ returns to Senegal this year to carry out a new surgical and healthcare mission, which will take place from 19 to 30 May 2026. Its task focuses on improving healthcare in areas with limited resources, offering surgical procedures, physiotherapy, post-operative care and healthcare training for local staff.

The team is made up of 14 multidisciplinary Catalan professionals who are currently active: 4 surgeons, 6 nurses, 2 anaesthetists, 1 nursing assistant (TCAE), 1 physiotherapist and 1 logistician. All of them come from prestigious public hospitals: Moisès Broggi Hospital, Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, Hospital de la Sta. Creu y Sant Pau, Bellvitge University Hospital and Can Misses Hospital in Ibiza, dedicating their time, knowledge and holidays to improving the health of vulnerable communities in the Casamance region of southern Senegal.

In 2025, MATACHANA collaborated with KADIANDÚ by donating essential equipment for the sterilization of medical supplies used at the Thionk Essyl hospital. The hospital has several MATACHANA bench top sterilizers that ensure the proper sterilization of surgical instruments during these campaigns.

This year, we are reinforcing our commitment by donating 2,400 self-sealing medical-grade bags, an indispensable resource for ensuring proper packaging prior to sterilization and contributing to the safety of surgical procedures. Similarly, several boxes of steam-activated adhesive tape will be delivered for sealing textile packages. This contribution will improve workflow efficiency and maintain the quality standards of the medical team throughout the mission.
