The city of Cartagena de Indias was the venue for this important meeting from 16 to 18 May. During these days, intense moments of academic awareness were experienced, where prominent speakers shared their experiences and reaffirmed the importance of scientific evidence applied to the reprocessing of medical devices.
The company MATACHANA and its distributor in Colombia, KAIKA, were present at the trade show, presenting the latest technological advances. One of the highlights of the Congress was the workshop given by Dr. Nelson Carreras, Global Manager of Monitoring and Sterile Barrier Systems at MATACHANA, in collaboration with Giovanna Ruiz, Clinical Specialist for LATAM, in which participants were able to witness how dirt can be visible on surgical instruments, although not evident on visual inspection and recognised the potential failures of an automatic washing cycle.
During the workshop, Dr Carreras explained different case studies for choosing the best PCD device for use in a RUMED, underlining the importance of monitoring in decision making and reference controls for the different processes.
This congress was consolidated as a fundamental space for knowledge exchange and advancement in the field of medical device reprocessing, marking a milestone in the promotion of safe and effective practices in the region.
Congratulations to all organisers and participants for this significant achievement.
