During the 3rd and 4th of July, the new medical device reprocessing unit of the Morales Meseguer University Hospital, in the beautiful city of Murcia, was trained and put into operation.

This new service responds to the major refurbishment of the hospital, with the inclusion of new operating theatres, as well as the implementation of a da Vinci robotic platform, which required the appropriate equipment to ensure reprocessing in line with the manufacturer’s requirements.

The training started with theoretical sessions, where the importance of washing and disinfection processes was emphasised, as the hospital centralised all these activities in one location. For this reason, the hospital incorporated 4 MAT LD1000 thermodisinfectors, 1 TRISON ultrasonic irrigator for da Vinci and a washing and disinfection tunnel for large volume material and instruments, MAT LD2000 Compact. In the sterilization area, 2 MATACHANA S1008 steam sterilizers were added to the existing equipment from a previous public tender. During the second day, the practical session took place, where the professionals were able to work with the equipment and simulate work cycles, as well as hypothetical technical incidents.

Big changes for new times, where the involvement and responsibility of professionals is essential to ensure the quality of the processes and, therefore, the safety of devices and patients.

MIEC MATACHANA

From MATACHANA, we are grateful for the trust placed in our company and we hope that, progressively, the service staff will become familiar with all this new equipment and strengthen their safety and knowledge.

We would like to thank the service supervisor, Mr. Antonio Salmerón, for his constant efforts to improve this unit, both in terms of material and human resources. His dedication and passion for reprocessing have turned the RUMED of the Morales Meseguer Hospital into a reference unit for the entire Murcian Health System.

And of course, thanks to the MATACHANA team of the Levante delegation, specifically to Mr. Fran Rodríguez, commercial delegate, as well as to all the Technical Service of the area. Thank you all for your work!
