On 24 October, San José, Costa Rica hosted the first Sterilization and Medical Devices Workshop, an enriching event focused on sterilization efficacy, sustainability and patient safety. Organised by the Costa Rican Medical Devices Association (APECO), the event brought together industry experts and professionals to share knowledge and experiences.
During the event, the importance of sterilization as a key element for patient safety, water quality and its impact on the processes carried out in our reprocessing units, as well as the use of chemicals for cleaning and disinfection processes were highlighted. Similarly, the Low Temperature Steam and 2% Formaldehyde sterilization technology was introduced, represented by the MATACHANA 130LF® model, a unit specially designed for the reprocessing of thermosensitive devices, with cycle times in accordance with current rotation needs.
Giovanna Ruiz Beltran, Clinical Specialist for LATAM at MATACHANA and representative of the Matachana International Education Center (MIEC), spoke about the history and development of this technology, highlighting its safety and efficiency in the reprocessing of complex thermolabile medical devices, such as flexible endoscopes used in gastrointestinal applications.
MATACHANA would like to congratulate the APECO society for this initiative and thanks the EEE company for its support, as well as all the speakers and participants. We are confident that this is the first of many events aimed at transforming the Medical Device Reprocessing Units in Costa Rica.
Special thanks to Pablo Vasquez, president of APECO, for his leadership and dedication. Form to transform!
See you next time, Costa Rica!
