On the 6th and 7th of June, the 1st Congress of the SEDE was held in the beautiful city of Murcia.

With a carefully planned scientific and technical programme, more than 200 professionals from all over Spain were able to benefit from the high content of the exhibitions in the official programme, as well as from the varied commercial exhibition that took place in parallel to the scientific congress.

Under the slogan ‘Committed to excellence in the reprocessing of medical devices’, we would like to highlight the presentation of our colleague Nelson Carreras, Global Product Manager of Monitoring, who spoke about ‘Tools for the verification of the reprocessing of Medical Devices’. During this session, Nelson commented on the guidelines and visual aids that have been generated to facilitate the implementation of Good Practices in our sterilization services.

Similarly, Elena Lorenzo, gave a conference entitled ‘Psychosocial factors and mental health effects on the staff of Reprocessing Units’, as part of the research work that has been carried out jointly with the Murcian nurses Emi Sabuco and Maribel Ríos. During the presentation, the conclusions drawn from the online survey, carried out in previous months with more than 328 Spanish RUMED professionals, were discussed. The conference, included within the table dedicated to ‘Mental Health and Communication in our units’, generated many questions and the need to maintain a good mental health of our workers to ensure the comfort of workers and a service of the highest quality.

MATACHANA would like to congratulate the organising committee of this congress and we look forward to the next edition, which will be held in the amazing city of Oviedo.
