On 21, 22 and 23 October 2025, three editions of the seminar “Safe Reprocessing: Correct Use of Packaging and Indicators as Foundation for Quality and Regulatory Compliance”, conducted by MIEC (Matachana International Education Center), in collaboration with HOSPIMED, MATACHANA’s distributor in Panama.
Each day brought together different groups of professionals from the reprocessing central, who participated in training aimed at reinforcing technical knowledge on the correct use of packaging and monitoring indicators, essential elements for ensuring reprocessing quality and regulatory compliance.
The programme combined theoretical sessions with a practical activity dedicated to the analysis of real situations related to the selection of the sterile barrier system and the importance of internal chemical indicators in patient safety, promoting the exchange of experiences and strengthening the technical and regulatory criteria of the participants.
As a complementary part of the seminar, a visit was made to the RUMED of the Ciudad de la Salud hospital complex, a benchmark in infrastructure and equipment for modern RUMED in Latin America. This experience allowed for the integration of theoretical learning with direct observation of state-of-the-art technology in the field of medical device reprocessing.
These activities reaffirm the commitment to ongoing education, technical excellence and patient safety, contributing to the professional development of RUMED human talent in Panama and throughout Latin America.
