MATACHANA PARTICIPATION IN THE “JORNADAS DEL INSTITUTO NACIONAL DE ESTERILIZACIÓN” OF CHILE (INDE)
On 2nd July and again on 27th August, Ms Elena Lorenzo, Infection Control Manager and head of the MATACHANA MIEC, was invited by the "Instituto Nacional de Esterilización" of Chile to give an educational talk on "Flexible Endoscopy Reprocessing".
With over 225 participants from all over South America, Elena reviewed the latest international recommendations, examining the different stages involved in this process and their importance for the safety of our patients, professionals and the optical devices themselves.
At the end of the session, the basis for the sterilization of flexible endoscopes used mainly for surgical purposes was presented. This represents one of the most important challenges that many sterilization units face on a daily basis. This last point allowed a brief comparison between the different low-temperature sterilization technologies available on the market, with their advantages and limitations.
INDE is the "Instituto Nacional de Esterilización de Chile" (National Sterilization Institute of Chile), created at the end of 2017 following the synergy of a group of professionals belonging to the medical device reprocessing area.
Its objective is to disseminate and contribute to the development of scientific and technical knowledge and the necessary skills, so that the personnel of these units can work safely and updated on the basis of continuous European knowledge and experience.
In the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, INDE organised a series of weekly talks where hot topics, always related to the reprocessing of medical devices were discussed.
From MATACHANA, we would like to congratulate INDE for its contribution to the improvement of the knowledge of all the professionals who work within the RUMED, and encourage them to continue with their informative work in the Spanish language.More Info
